The Pulmonary Workshop is a Gentle Exercise Class for people who suffer from COPD. These classes are led by qualified British Lung Foundation (BLF) Active Instructors.
Content:
Each class lasts for 1 hour and is led by specialist Fit 4 Life Instructors. The session begins with a 10 minute seated warm-up and stretching, followed by a series of specially designed cardiovascular and resistance exercise stations. Stations include; step ups, chest press, sit-to-stand, bicep curls, shuttle walking and more. More able clients also have the option of using the full range of cardiovascular exercise machines.
Each client records the amount and type of exercise they do. Clients are encouraged to aim to achieve at least 20 minutes continuous cardiovascular exercise during the session although this is often built up over time.
The class finishes with a 5 minute seated cool-down with stretching.
